Ensure sealing and performance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Complete closure:<\/strong> If the valve clearance is too small (the valve is &quot;sticking&quot;), the valve does not close completely. This results in a loss of compression, reduced power, and increased fuel consumption.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Optimal filling:<\/strong> If the clearance is too large, the valve does not open fully or for long enough, which impairs air\/fuel filling and exhaust gas evacuation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Prevent valve damage<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The exhaust valve dissipates its heat mainly when it is in contact with the cylinder head (its seat).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the valve clearance is zero or insufficient, the valve remains slightly open. The extremely hot combustion gases escaping through this opening will literally scorch the material: this is what is called a <strong>burnt valve<\/strong>, requiring extensive repairs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Limit mechanical wear and noise<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Game too big:<\/strong> Excessive valve clearance causes a characteristic metallic rattling noise.
